A fine Chinese cloisonné hexagonal hu-form vase, late Qing dynasty, circa 1880–1900, the swelling pear-shaped body raised on a square bronze foot and decorated overall with a dense trellis diaper pattern in rich turquoise, red, yellow, white and green enamels on a dark bronze ground, the shoulder mounted with a pair of exceptionally fine cast bronze shishi (Buddhist lion) handles, rearing and full of character, the neck with a classical Greek key border. A decorative and collectable example of the Chinese cloisonné maker’s art, retaining good colour and with the warm patina of age.

Some slight damage to the cloisonné on one side that has been repaired
