Small French Oak Farmhouse Dining Table with Small Drawer
A charming small French oak table, probably dating from the mid-19th century. The thick top is made of planks and has a moulded edge. It has a rich, deep patina built up over many years of use, and it carries the natural marks, joins and fine surface cracks you would expect of an honest country piece. A single frieze rail sits beneath the top, and the table stands on four square tapered legs, with a stretcher on each side for added strength. The table has a small drawer at one end.
The scale is its great advantage. It is big enough to seat four to six people, yet it fits easily into a small kitchen, a breakfast room or a hallway. It would also make a handsome writing table or a console in a larger space.
