An impressive blue and white covered jar in the Dutch Delft tradition, of octagonal baluster form with a domed cover surmounted by a lion finial holding a heraldic shield. Hand-painted in cobalt and pale blue with fluted panels of flowering plants beneath lambrequin borders and stiff-leaf ornament. Marked “Delft” to the base.

 

*please not tiny bit of damage to the nose of the lion on the lid*
