Hammered Metal Tazza with Swan Handles
An oval tazza of hammered silvered metal, raised on a stepped circular foot and flanked by a pair of cast brass swan handles, their necks arching gracefully over the rim. A brass band runs around the upper edge, providing warm contrast to the silvered body.
The swan motif was popular throughout the Empire and Regency periods and remained a decorative staple into the early twentieth century. This example has the character of a Continental European piece, possibly French or Italian, and dates to the early-to-mid twentieth century. Versatile in use — equally suited as a fruit bowl, centrepiece, or for displaying cut flowers.
Condition: Some patination to the silvered surface and minor wear to the brass banding consistent with age. No significant damage.
