Antique Pine Cricket Table with Red Painted Base

FTA725

A charming 19th century cricket table, with a round pine top that has been scrubbed back to a soft, mellow honey colour. The top is made from several boards and shows lovely signs of age, with knots, grain and the marks of long use. It sits on three splayed, tapering legs in an old red paint, joined by a shaped scalloped apron beneath the top. The paint is deliberately worn and has softened with age, and it contrasts beautifully with the pale scrubbed top. Cricket tables were made as small, sturdy country tables, and the three legs let them stand firm on uneven floors. This one is a good size for a side table, lamp table or bedside table, or for a little spot for coffee by a chair.
