Antique Arts & Crafts Oak Two-Drawer Side Table, circa 1900
A neat and well-proportioned side table in figured oak, the rectangular top with a slightly overhanging edge above a frieze fitted with two short drawers, each with original turned brass ring handles with a pleasing verdigris patina. Raised on slender square tapering legs united by an X-form stretcher with central square platform. The quarter-sawn oak throughout shows good figuring.
The clean lines and elegant stretcher arrangement are characteristic of the Arts & Crafts influence on Edwardian cabinet making, though the form remains sufficiently restrained to sit comfortably in a range of interior settings.
