A Pair of Napoleon III Armchairs, Reupholstered in Yellow Gingham

A handsome pair of Napoleon III armchairs, French, third quarter 19th century, each raised on turned and lobed walnut show-frame legs to the front and swept supports to the rear. The generous spoon-back form with scrolled arms has been recently reupholstered in a crisp yellow and white gingham check, piped in a soft ivory, giving the pair a fresh, country-house appeal while retaining their original outline and proportions.

Comfortable and generously scaled, they would suit either side of a fireplace or as a pair of statement chairs in a drawing room or garden room.
