A Pair of French Napoleon III Button-Back Fauteuils

A very good pair of antique French armchairs, circa 1860–1880, newly upholstered in a sage green and ivory ticking stripe. Each chair has a characteristically generous curved button-back, low scrolled arms, and a deep stuffover seat — all hallmarks of the Napoleon III period. The frames are raised on turned walnut front legs terminating in original castors, with swept back legs. Elegant but unpretentious, this is a highly versatile pair that works beautifully in a drawing room, bedroom, or kitchen.
